Professionally, for various reasons, we need to develop new and improved tests of memory with built-in validity checks. One reason is that the more good tests there are, the harder it will be for coaching to be effective.

The LPT has the advantage of being very fast with no delay interval. It takes about 7 minutes in total. It yields three recognition scores, two paired associate learning test scores and three free recall scores. It feels difficult. The examinee will have a hard time working out which subtests are objectively easy and which are not.  The relationship between scores on various subtests will be important, just as it is with the WMT, MSVT and NV-MSVT.

The LPT is still in an experimental phase and more research is needed.  Please contact us if you are interested in contributing.
